The Wheelock Wildcats participate in eleven NCAA Division III sports, competing in the New England Collegiate Conference.

- Student Policy Fellows Program helps students to develop their leadership, advocacy, and policy skills through a seminar and a field placement with a state legislator.
Wheelock Family Theatre
- Wheelock students provide an estimated 193,000 hours of service annually to the community through field experiences in more than 280 organizations.
- The Wheelock Mattahunt Community Partnership is a vibrant and unique partnership between the City of Boston, the Mattapan community, and Wheelock College that is committed to bringing forth a quality, sustainable community center filled with programs and services designed to respond to the needs and assets of the people in Mattapan. Wheelock College was awarded the 2012 John Blackburn Award from The American Association of University Administrators for its work at the Mattahunt Community Center.
- 100% of all graduate social work students complete at least 1,200 hours in community settings during their academic program.
- 100% of the 26 clubs on campus participate in or initiate community service programs.
- In 2011, The Center of Excellence for Military Children and Families was established by Wheelock College in collaboration with the Massachusetts National Guard and the Military Child Education Coalition to draw attention to the many services available to aid military children and families, maximizing the visibility of military support systems and offering the resources of the Wheelock community to military families.
- Founded in 2007, the Aspire Institute mobilizes the expertise of Wheelock faculty and community partners to advance knowledge; promote effective policy, practice, and research; and develop innovative solutions to social and educational challenges.
- Through its major productions, school and community partnerships, and educational programs, the professional Wheelock Family Theatre makes theatre accessible and affordable to more than 35,000-40,000 people annually.
Wheelock Associate Professor Tina Durand and one of her undergraduate students, Nicole Perez, coauthored an article titled “Continuity and variability in the parental involvement and advocacy beliefs of Latino families of young children: Finding the potential for a collective voice” which was featured in The School Community Journal. The article featured a qualitative study conducted which explored Latino parents’ beliefs about children’s education, their involvement and advocacy beliefs and practices, and their perceptions of feeling welcome at their children’s school.
Eric Silverman, Associate Professor of American Studies and Chair, Psychology and Human Development programs at Wheelock College, wrote "A Cultural History of Jewish Dress". This book is the first comprehensive account of how Jews have been distinguished by their appearance from Ancient Israel to today. Eric Silverman is able to answer key questions including what the biblical and rabbinic fashions were and why clothing was so important to immigrant Jews in America.
Written by Diane Levin, “Helping Children Understand and Deal with Poverty: Lessons from Greece” examines children’s experiences of poverty, the information they obtain from the people around them, and the anxieties they may feel during trying economic times.
"Bone By Bone: Comparing Animal Skeletons" was written by Wheelock Assistant Professor of Life Science Sara Levine. This book designed for children of all ages illustrates the similarities and differences between human and animal bone structures.
Wheelock College professor of Early Childhood Education Diane E. Levin, Ph.D co-authored “So Sexy So Soon” as a helpful guide for parents who are fed up, confused, and even scared by what their kids–or their kids’ friends–do and say.
Assistant Professor of Social Work Nicole Dubus co-authored “Enhancing student outcomes through mentoring, peer counseling, and parental involvement” as a proposal for a program of mentoring, peer counseling, and parent involvement for children in Ghana from first through ninth grade.
Through her book “Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Oeur Sexuality”, Wheelock Professor Gail Dines shows that porn culture has become absorbed into pop culture. While attempting to prove that porn desensitizes and actually limits our sexual freedom, she argues its omnipresence is a public health concern we can no longer ignore.
Diane Levin, Professor of Early Childhood Education, wrote “Beyond Remote-Controlled Childhood: Teaching Young Children in the Media Age” as a way for parents to learn how to counteract any harmful impact media can have on the process and content of children’s development and learning. It also provides help to families on how to make informed decisions about the media in children’s lives.
